In the heart of the designation zone " Pic-Saint-Loup " the vine plants of Jean-Pierre RAMBIER (vintner) descend in slopes at the lower counterforts of the Cévennes, in the mist of layey /calcareous " garrigue (low, sparse vegetation typical of south of France).

The Vine Plant

Jean-Pierre RAMBIER gives great care to his 25 hectares of vine plants and respects to the letter the charter regarding planted grape-varieties, as stipulated by the "syndicat du Cru " ; it is clear that a good wine is first and foremost , well maintained quality vine plants which receive abundant sunshine. We demonstrate our will to produce wine by traditional methods by maintaining tight contol over the yield of the grape-vines and as well as their balanced development.

This is why we have set up goals concerning works on the grape-vines :

Pruning is handled by experienced personnel working on the premises for a long time. Their knowledge about vines allows a good control over the load of the vine-stock (i.e. the number grapes on one vine-stock) and thus over the yield.

The working of the soil plays an important role for us ; this is why we do not use weed-killers so that pollution is minimized and the soils are protected . We plow several times in order to get rid of the weeds and to prevent tamping down of the soil.

The use of organic manure is limited. Its use is essential since it enriches the soils left poor due to the sapping of nutrients by the vine-plants.

    Tradition

The wine resembles its maker ; it has character. With his son , Jean-Pierre RAMBIER nurses the vine , presse the grapes while taking into consideration all details in order to offer us the best quality wine.
